On November 21, 2023, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) solemnly organized the meeting of the National Perfection Council Meeting of the Training Program of Excellent Engineers in Vietnam (PFIEV) to summarize the school year’s activities 2022-2023 and provide operational directions for the school year 2023-2024.
Overview of the Meeting
Attending the meeting, on the side of the French Republic there were: Mr. Denis FOURMEAU – Representative of the French Embassy in Vietnam; Mr. Thibaut SKRZYPEK – Spokesperson of the Association of French partner schools. On the side of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, there was Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Tung – Rector; Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Xuan Anh – Vice Rector, Head of Training Program of Excellent Engineers in Vietnam at HUCE; Dr. Tong Ngoc Tu – Head of Board of Management and Training of Excellent Engineers (PFIEV Board); Representatives of leaders of departments and faculties, heads of PFIEV majors; lecturers of Mathematics, Physics, Foreign Languages and lecturers and staffs of the PFIEV Board.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Tung – Rector of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering welcomed and thanked the direction, support and deep concern of the French Embassy in Vietnam and the Consortium of French partner schools for the PFIEV program. Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Tung said that the PFIEV Program is the first program to meet international quality accreditation standards and is one of the successful training programs at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. This is also an effective training program from the French-Vietnamese cooperation between HUCE and French partner universities, which has trained many excellent engineers working both domestically and internationally. Associate Professor, PhD. Hoang Tung believes that PFIEV’s member schools and the consortium of French partner schools will continue to develop the PFIEV brand together.

Speaking at the Meeting, Mr. Denis FOURMEAU – Attache for Scientific and University Cooperation of the French Embassy in Vietnam highly appreciated the achievements of the PFIEV Program, an excellent educational program of cooperation between two countries Vietnam and France. Mr. Denis FOURMEAU also pledged that the French Government through the Embassy will continue to support and accompany the PFIEV Program, creating favorable conditions and giving priority to PFIEV students.

On behalf of the Project of Training Program of Excellent Engineers at NUCE, Dr. Tong Ngoc Tu – Head of PFIEV Board presented a Report summarizing the activities of the PFIEV Program at the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering for the school year 2022-2023: Admissions and specialization selection exam; Graduation and employment after graduation; Connect with businesses and alumni; Training – Scientific research – Innovation of PFIEV students,… At the same time, propose operational directions for the next school year 2023-2024.

After listening to the Report, the French expert delegation had a comprehensive view on all the program’s activities that took place in the past year. The French expert delegation highly appreciated the efforts and results achieved by PFIEV-HUCE in the past year in all fields mentioned in the Summary Report. In addition, the two sides discussed and discussed creating more favorable conditions to attract enrollment for the program; Exchange of lecturers from French schools to teach PFIEV students, exchange students; Ability to open new majors; Promoting cooperation with the French business sector through the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV) helps students have more internship and recruitment opportunities; The support and experience sharing of French partner schools in compiling guidance documents for the general stage…

The meeting ended successfully with high agreement between the two sides on the direction of activities in the coming year to further improve the PFIEV Program – the most successful program, represents cooperation in education between France and Vietnam.

The Training Program of Excellent Engineers in Vietnam (PFIEV) is a bilateral cooperation project implemented by the Government of Vietnam and the French Republic since 1999. The program is implemented at 4 prestigious universities of Vietnam, including: Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), University of Science and Technology – The University of Danang (DUT) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. In order for PFIEV to operate effectively and in the right direction, a large group of French universities and also a partner of PFIEV was established to advise the program including: École des Ponts ParisTech (ENPC), Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon (INSA de Lyon), École Centrale Paris (ECP), Grenoble INP Institut d’ingénierie et de management (INPG), École nationale supérieure de mécanique et d’aérotechnique (ENSMA), Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse (INPT), École Nationle Supérieure de Techniques Avancées Bretagne (ENSTA ) and Lycée Louis-le-Grand (LLG).
Every year, the National Perfection Council Meeting of the Training Program of Excellent Engineers in Vietnam (PFIEV) holds an annual meeting to evaluate the performance results of the previous year and provide operational directions for the coming year to helps the program always improve according to European and International higher education standards. |
