A working week between the Consortium of 04 universities in Vietnam participating in the PFIEV program and the Lycée Louis Le Grand School of the French Consortium

Within the operation plan of the PFIEV program in Vietnam in 2023, on the morning of February 28, 2023, the University of Science and Technology – University of Danang, as the rotating president of the 4-universities complex in Vietnam participated in the Training Program of Excellent Engineers in Vietnam (PFIEV) held the opening week of the working week between the Vietnamese Universities Complex and Lycée Louis Le Grand School (France) on the unification of teaching content, assessment and exam questions of Math, Physics and French under the PFIEV program.

Overview of the opening session

Attending the opening ceremony, on the side of University of Science and Technology – UDN, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Hai – Vice Rector of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Dieu Hang – Deputy Head of Training Department; Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Deputy Head of Science & Technology and International Cooperation Department; Dr. Nguyen Le Hoa – Dean of Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology, together with teachers who teach Math, Physics, and French courses under the PFIEV program; On the side of the member universities of the Vietnam Consortium, there were representatives of the PFIEV program and the lecturers teaching the relevant courses. On the side of Lycée Louis Le Grand, there was the attendance of Prof. Cyril Germain – Lecturer in Mathematics, Prof. Malek Kious – Lecturer in Physics, and Prof. Fanny Talagrand – Lecturer in French.

Speaking at the opening session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Hai emphasized the need to unify the teaching content as well as the assessment method for the Math, Physics and French modules because these modules are part of the transitional knowledge block for PFIEV students after 2 years of general education to enter the Specialization Selection Exam. This is also one of the activities aimed at ensuring and improving the training quality of the PFIEV program in Vietnam.

With the same opinion, Prof. Malek Kious said that after more than 20 years of establishment and development, it is time for the PFIEV program to also raise issues of innovation so that it can continue to develop more in the future.

Groups discuss and evaluate the teaching situation of the modules at the universities of the Vietnamese side complex

In 03 working days from February 28 to March 2, 2023, the lecturers teaching the modules are divided into 03 groups to discuss and evaluate the teaching situation of the modules at the Vietnamese universities. On that basis, proposing solutions to improve teaching, assessment and exam questions of subjects, such as compiling new textbooks, exercises with common answers for the Complex, rebuilding the structure of the Specialization Selection Exam…. In the coming time, the two groups of Vietnam and France will continue to work together to realize the proposals agreed in this working week.

The PFIEV program was established in 1999 under an educational cooperation agreement between the Governments of Vietnam and France. The goal of the program is to train high-quality human resources to meet the needs of domestic, regional and international businesses. In Vietnam, four leading technical universities have been selected to participate in the PFIEV program, including: Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Science and Technology – University of Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh city University of Technology – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. On the French side, a consortium of leading universities that are partners of PFIEV was established to advise the program including: National School of Bridges and Bridges Paris, National Institute of Applied Sciences Lyon, School of Central Paris, National Polytechnic Institute of Grenoble, National University of Mechanics and Aeronautical Engineering Poitiers, National University of Electrical, Electronic and Informatics Engineering,
